On 16 June 2010 The Planning Inspectorate allowed the appeal in favour of Severn against the refusal by Stafford Borough for the anemometer.
Whilst this was widely expected it does not mean that we will fail in our bid to stop the erection of wind turbines in the Trent Valley. Severn Trent will now obviously decide when to erect the anemometer and once the results have been monitored they will then have to submit an application for the turbines.
We face an expensive fight to preserve our landscape, tranquil way of life and the value of our homes. We have faith that these plans will be refused locally but after that we will be faced with an appeal & Public Enquiry.
This will be our last chance for us to defeat the proposal. We must not lose through lack of funding.

This anemometer battle is only the first hurdle and whilst being disappointed I did expect it, however we will remain positive and I am confident that we will be successful in winning in the future.

Severn Trent Water Limited (STW) propose to erect three 132m (433 feet) high wind turbines on their land just south of Stone, adjacent to the River Trent, canal and wetlands all crossed by the Burston Trail nature walk.
STOPstw are an action group formed to lead the fight against the proposed wind farm at Aston Hall Farm between Aston by Stone & Burston.
Why we object
- This is an inappropriate development for this particular location, adjacent to an award winning wetland conservation area.
- The quality of your life and environment will be irretrievably damaged. Visual effect, long term disruption during construction and maintenance, harm to wildlife and watercourses.
- Wind turbines may damage your health both physically and mentally within range.
- Your property could be devalued.
- STW acknowledged at the Salt PC open meeting that they would not be planning to build these turbines were it not subsidised by electricity consumers. These subsidies are 6 figures/turbine/year.
- Do not fall for the argument that they are more acceptable than a conventional power station. They are not an alternative.
- Research suggests we would need 2000 turbines to equal one modern power station.
